Father of the Hatfields in Pike County and in southwestern West Virginia. Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Vance Hatfield. Husband of (1) Mary Smith, b. ca 1767 and d. ca 1797, and (2) Annie McKinney Musick Bundy Hatfield. Father of George Hatfield, buried at Bluespring, and grandfather of Elder Anderson Hatfield. The inscription on the field stone is incorrect as to the date of death. Quote from Ephraim Hatfield's Bible, written by his grandson, the Elder Anderson Hatfield: "Ephriam Hatfield departed this life on October 13, 1847." The date on the granite stone is correct.

Ephraim Hatfield Born CA 1760 in Old Virginia Died 13 Oct. 1847 in Pike County Ky Here lies Ephraim Hatfield, born in Old Virginia before The War of Independence. Eph came to Kentucky around 1820 from Russell County, VA. All Hatfields from the Tug Valley area are descendants of Ephraim. His children were: Joseph Hatfield, Valentine Hatfield, Lydia Hatfield, Mary (Emzy) Hatfield, George Hatfield, Jeremiah Hatfield, Ake Hatfield and Margaret Hatfield.
