This is inconsistent with all the census data, beginning with 1900, when she identifies her date of birth to be Mar 1877 and age 23. In 1910, her age on 26 April was listed as 34, with her approximate year of birth as 1876. In 1920, her age on 2 Jan was listed as 47 with the approxmate year of birth 1873. Given when the census data was taken, the 1900 and 1910 data is consistent with her birth being Mar 1877. None of this data supports the birth year of 1883 on the gravestone. Moreover, if the gravestone is correct, Sallie would have been only thirteen at the time of her second marriage to Harrison Norman on 8 May 1896. Commonly, her maiden name is identified as McCoy. This is no doubt from her marriage record to Harrison. It says: " Wm. H. Norman and Sallie McCoy (late Ratliff) at John S. Ratliff's in Pike in presence of Hunts Scott and John S. Ratliff." Her maiden name being McCoy is consistent with the M. on her gravestone.
