Son of Asa and Nancy Hatfield McCoy. He is identified in some sources, including FindAGrave, as Willard McCoy, which is inconsistent with the 1900 US Census (where he is present with his mother), the Norman Inventory, and Trudy McCoy. According to Trudy McCoy in The McCoys: Their Story, p.256, Millard was about 18 when he was killed while squirrel hunting. That would make his year of death to be about 1904. He has been confused with Freeland, his brother, who is buried next to him.
